Marisilda Garcia

As a Texas native, Marisilda Garcia dreamed of making her way to Los Angeles to pursue her acting and singing career. As both a Mexican American and a female, she anticipated the journey ahead of her and fought to get where she is today.

She remembers her 2nd grade teacher telling her during a class assignment where students were asked what they wanted to be that Mexicans couldn’t be actors and singers. Fueled by her mother’s words and encouragement, she kept the passion alive until moving to Los Angeles in 2007, where she could bring those dreams to fruition.

In the years since moving to LA, she’s won an award for best band at Indie Fest for her band, Sorry, Nelson, she’s helped organize the Center for the Cinematic Arts, CFCA, and been a part of several award winning projects as an actor, singer/songwriter and associate producer. Her role as DEA Agent, Jo in the feature Down and Dangerous led to a musical relationship with both director Zak Forsman and composer Deklun when they asked her to lend her songwriting and vocal skills to their film. As an actor, she can be seen in Hot Guys with Guns, Veladora, Jenny and Lalo and several commercials from Olive Garden to Honda. She is also the voice of Universal City Walk’s Concert Series.

Her latest roles: leader and businesswoman. She started CINELadies in January 2012 with the intention of providing women in entertainment with a platform to encourage and support one another. CINELadies now includes over 250 members comprised of on camera talent, above the line and below the line talent. Her commitment to changing the way women are seen in Hollywood allows her to continue her artistic endeavors while fueling her role as a leader in the industry.
